Good Fishing
Weakfish were loaded again yesterday. We had fish on almost every stop for most of the running tides. Right out of the inlet we were treated to a mad dog Albie bite for a good hour and a half. Diving birds, bait all over the surface just crazy fishing. The fish were blitzing sand eels and the Albies were very nice size with most fish going over 7 lbs and some as large as 10+ The trick was not chase the birds and fish on top but to jig the deeper fish we marked with sonar, I watched a lot of people come by us in frustration as we hooked up fish after fish. Albies see very well. Light leader and smaller hooks can be a big factor in the amount of hook ups you get.

WOW
What a day after a struggle the night before with not much bait and fish coming unhooked it was nice to get in on a major mad dog tonight. Big fish Bonnie Hall showed the boys again how it is done by catching another hog! We hooked up numerous fish on poppers and swimmers and live ones. All fish were released

A little update
Sorry for the lack of reports this spring but I have been just overwhelmed with construction work. My trips have been limited to the back waters thus far. I still have a very busy next few weeks but hope to get the Contender going this weekend. Fishing has been great, big bluefish have been awesome this year on the flats, with pretty much none stop action everyday we have been out . Oceanside has had some good fishing for bass in the 20 pound class. I choose to not fish for these because they are mostly prespawn Hudson river fish. I like to think that I am doing my part to see these fish get to spawn. Southern stocks have taken a beating the last few winters and the numbers are way down for landings per trip. lets keep our hopes that the still strong Hudson stock can survive the current pressure

Its been a long winter but our wait is over!We will be out on the water every day the weather permits. I have dates still open so give me a call if you want to get into the early season backwater fishing. The heavy rains and wind had its toll on our area waters but we were still able to get our first fish of the season over the rail. A few more tide changes and some warm sunny days,Our fishing will see a major improvement this upcoming week.
